The Porsche in which actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas died was traveling at an “unsafe speed†at the time of at the fiery crash that killed them, but neither man had drugs or alcohol in their systems, autopsy reports released Friday state.
[IMG]Paul Walker and Roger Rodas are shown in a photo posted on Dec. 15, 2010, to the Always Evolving Facebook page.

Walker died of the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries, the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner had reported in an initial statement released in December. Rodas died of multiple traumatic injuries.
On Friday, the department released the full autopsy reports for both victims, who died Nov. 30 in Santa Clarita when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that Rodas was driving crashed.
The car was traveling at an “unsafe speed†of “approximately 100+ mph†before the single-vehicle crash, the report states.
No drugs or alcohol were detected in either man’s system, the reports state.
The report described the two men’s injuries in detail, saying their remains were charred and both had elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their systems.
Both men were found “lying supine†and in a “pugilistic stance,†the report states. Rodas had major head trauma, with his skull and jaw fractured and his brain exposed
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has been continuing its investigation into the crash, and investigators previously stated that witnesses said the car was traveling fast.
The coroner had previously stated the men’s deaths were accidental.

As gross as that is it was probably the better way to go then to survive the initial crash and be burned to death.

"Both had elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their systems". That means they burned to death.

    Pugilistic Stance
A ‘defensive’ position fancifully likened to that adopted by pugilists (boxers), which is typically seen in severely burned bodies, characterised by flexion of elbows, knees, hip, and neck, and clenching of hand into a fist; it is caused by high-temperatures in fire, resulting in muscle stiffening and shortening; it occurs even if the person was dead before the fire

I'm trying to decide what would be worse.

    Drowning, or burning to death?

Well, I would think that with drowning you could draw water into your lungs and end the process sooner. But, burning to death allegedly only hurts for a little while until the nerve-endings are dead. Most burn deaths are actually asphyxiations.

    Science, bitch!

How anyone knows this is beyond me, but it is said that drowning is a peaceful way to go.
