Free meals is the only reason why Howard loves Nobu. That plus the Starfucking Beth enjoys that is . . .

I've heard that before while visiting NYC. People tell me it's overpriced & way overrated.

I've eaten at the downtown one before, about 13years ago.

It was amazing AT the time because the idea was new. Now you can't throw a stick without hitting an expensive/glamarous sushi spot in any big city.

The midtown one blows, looks like a strip club inside. Howie likes it cause its close to his apartment.

Trivia - nobu57 is actually located in the howard stern building! (Where K-rock was)

Nobu was famous because morimoto (the iron chef) worked there for Robert dineros son... Morimoto now runs his own place in Philly (which is awesome) and nobu is for the new money crowd.

True as well, although morimoto has a few restaurants so on any given night he could be cooking at any of them(or none)

For my money(and I Lived in Yokohama for a year) I like Sushi Yasuda. When chef Yasuda is in, the sushi is perfect.

For cheaper sushi just go to any izikaya or sake bar but you MUST make sure its owned and operated by Japanese. Lots of Koreans and Chinese open sushi bars everywhere and its just not the same.

I'm not sure washing dishes there counts as "been to". :D

Besides, the list is bullshit. There isn't a single Lum's or Shoney's big boy on there.

I've been trying to get weekend evening reservations at per se for two years now... You call a month in advance when they open, and then after 5 minutes of a busy signal, you get told that they're not available... I once asked to pay them for reservations, and they told me that they just turned down Alec Baldwin... I told them I'd call back next week... Nd have been ever since...

Not that expensive considering the status of that restaurant. Plus the clientele that go there . . .

The French Laundry is one of the very few restaurants in North America to hold 3 Michelin Stars. Extremely rare even in Europe. More so in North America. That means your simply the best. It doesn't get any better than that. 3 Michelin Stars that is . . .

Howard's been to Chez Panisse, too.

I've lived in or nearly Berkeley for 17 years and I've never been. I have, however, shopped at the Safeway across the street.

If you ever go, there are little Easter eggs... Like... Go to the upstairs bathroom, then wait until a wait staffer is halfway up the stairs, then step on the stairs.... The wait staffer will stop, turn around and go back down, even if she was on the next to last step when you started down... They will not cross a patron on the stairs.

They also will not tell a guest no. I had a tour of the kitchen, got a photo with Keller and even got them to make us their third (off menu) signature dish: coffee & donuts. Even had signed menus and a place setting sent home... All for free... Not to mention that the waitstaff can tell you stories about every dish thats made (remarkable since the two nine-course menus change daily) and the sommeliers are amazing in their knowledge of the product. When we were there, one person at my table was from a small town in Germany. They brought us a bottle from an estate in that town (which the laundry bought the entire production run of) and served it to us for free... Turns out it was an $1800 bottle...

I can't say enou for that place... Which is why I want to take my wife to per se. And then to the sushi joint next door.

How many "Howard Stern Buildings" are there? Aren't they in the "Howard Stern Building" presently.
