I know it's too much to ask that this doesn't veer off into another "discussion" about gun control, but I'll try anyway.

The whisper in the wind seems to suggest that the Republican-controlled House will cave and we'll get another "Assault Weapons Ban." Assuming that's true and assuming that everything we own prior to the ban will be grandfathered in without any NFA-type Federal registry, what's on your wish list?

I say this because I have a few guns that might be considered "assault weapons" by some, but even before the threat of a ban, I had no real interest in purchasing anymore. Sure, I'd LOVE to buy an FN PS90...if it was chambered in a practical caliber like 9mm, but the 5.7 is pretty "meh" to me. The Kel-Tec Sub2000 (HARDLY an "assault weapon to anybody with a brain) is something I've wanted for years, but they're never in stock.

AUGs and AUG clones, SCARs and SCAR clones, FN F2000s and Tevors are overpriced and don't interest me. Bullpups, especially, make me uneasy. A kB next to my temple is something I will avoid at any cost.

I know people are picking gun shops clean ever since last Friday, but I haven't had the urge to buy anything. Where are you gun folks in this? I'm curious.

I already have a mini-14, but I may invest in bushmaster before a ban goes into affect...:bigthink:

1911s arent going anywhere. They're single stack, small capacity.

BTW, SCAR-17 and the 416 are not overpriced. They are top notch, best in breed weapons. I'd put them up against anything on the market. The SCAR-16 however is a waste of money.

I have a pre-ban Bushy XM-15. It's great. Now it has a threaded muzzle, muzzle break and Magpul furniture since the ban ended.

That being said, in 2006, a conglomerate called Cerberus bought Bushmaster and Remington. They cut back on labor and the quality control is shit. Like Remington, Bushmaster exists in name only.

If you have the oppurtunity, buy an AR from S&W (The M&P series is great,) DPMS, Olympic Arms, Colt ($$$) or even Stag Arms. There's over a dozen AR manufacturers and nearly all have better quality control than the current shit stamped, "Bushmaster" or "Remington."

Don't buy a colt either unless it says Colt Defense on the mag feed.

I have a DMPS Recon which I paid under 1K for.

I won't argue. But my ARs continue to do everything that FN says they can't. After 14+ years and countless rounds, my antiquated gas impingement AR refuses to fail me no matter what I do! It's driving me mad! Fail already, I need to abandon you, Eugene Stoner. You chump!

Pricey, but worth it if you can afford it.

Yeah, they've come along way since the original Armalite design.

Agreed if we're talking 5.56. The SCAR-17 wins out because its 7.62. Colt came out with a 7.62 that actually has an interchangeable upper but the SCAR is still better.

The first gun I ever bought...at 18...in LI, NY, no less, was a preban Colt Sporter. It was $1,600. I ended up selling it a few years later for $1900, buying an $800 Bushy XM-15 and buying a 10/22 and Winchester model 94 in 30/3o in its place.

Getting rid of the birdcage flash hider and CAR stock seemed worth it to me. Three guns for the price of one. How could I complain.

Ya got a pencil barrel in that thing? Five years from now, I bet polymer lowers will be standard.

I'm almost tempted to go for a polymer AR .22 build. How fun would that be!

I was hesitant at first but it was a steal at $99. Everything is polymer except the trigger springs...even the take down pins are polymer. I've put in about 600 rounds and the hammer looks brand new so we'll see long term.
