Told a story about the Norm Show and Jack Warden. I remember Jack was a manly man on that show but also gay. Norm coined one of my favorite phrases that episode. "He's gayer than a gay dollar bill" :jj:

Me too. It was funny as hell. They laughed the way Howard and the gang used to laugh at everything. I don't get why he just doesn't seem to be able to catch on with TV shows. He kills and got greeted like a rock star by Letterman's audience.

Dave is genuinely cracking up. Wonder if Norm did any damage to the TV camera he took as a souvenir?

Norm is quite out of shape. He was huffing and puffing during the second segment. I wonder what he was doing during the break.

Norm tells some great stories. The stuff about whores was funny too. Dave is definitely a fan.

I just listened to the 2 parter with Gilbert on Norm's podcast. Reminded me of when Artie and Gilbert used to shit on Robins news and just riff for an hour. Gilbert told a bit about the jerry Louis telethon that had me spitting my coffee.

Norm doesn't catch on with general TV audiences because he's a comic's comic. He's dry and subtle and his shit goes over most droolers' heads. TV idiots need Jeff Foxworthy minutiae with clearly drawn setup-punchline, setup-punchline.

Norm will intentionally pretend to be bombing sometimes just because playing it straight stops being a challenge. He's kinda like Gilbert in that regard but sharper and faster. I laugh way more at Norm than Chris Rock for what it's worth.

The world is divided into people who think Norm is the worst and people who think he's the funniest person ever. It's not that smart people like him and dumb people hate him. It's like that fucking dress that some people see differently. It's weird. I can't get enough Norm.

He's still a little out of shape, but he's much more fit than when he did season one of his podcast. He was just bloated.

I remember watching him on Dave 19 years ago when he got fired from SNL weekly update. Dave called him a quisling and Norm didn't know what that meant. Fucking hilarious.

And George Miller jokes. Letterman dropped $1 million dollars on UCLA or some hospital so his old friend George Miller could get into a last-chance cancer treatment program in California. Good guy.

I thought the Norm Show as one of the best sitcoms on the air at the time. Something about his comedy and delivery that some people get and some don't. The ensemble cast of Norm Show should have made it last more than three years. Of course, ABC moved it so much it couldn't build an audience. It would go off the air for months at a time and then come back for a few months.
