I was working on my afternoon and evening newscasts when I came across a press release about the North Shore Animal League joining up with a local pet adoption group for an event on Sunday. Of course it's being held in the ritziest, most expensive hotel in the city, which isn't saying much. The press release says the event is taking place in conjunction with "National Adopt a Cat Month." Their prices are pretty high for this area and about double what the city shelter charges. My question is "Why is a Hamptons-based animal "charity" and social group putting on an event in fly-over country?" Beef's not coming, otherwise I'd be there to represent the Shed. So many questions I'd ask her... "Did you find Howard's 90's show funny?" "Why do you wear leather?" "Why the long face?" "What do you and your step-daughters do on Mothers Day?" "Who is Scott Ostrosky?" "How many Polacks does it take to entrap a wealthy Jew?" "Do you cry when you hear The Eagles song 'Lyin' Eyes'?" "What's shinier, your blood diamond or Howard's head?" ...and so on.
