NYC bookmaker business must be down and they blamin the FF sites.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/11/s...tes-to-stop-taking-bets-in-new-york.html?_r=0

The New York State attorney general on Tuesday ordered the two biggest daily fantasy sports companies, DraftKings and FanDuel, to stop accepting bets from New York residents, saying their games constituted illegal gambling under state law.

    From Our Advertisers
The cease-and-desist order by the attorney general, Eric T. Schneiderman, is a major blow to a multibillion-dollar industry that introduced sports betting to legions of young sports fans and has formed partnerships with many of the nation’s professional sports teams. Given the New York attorney general’s historic role as a consumer-protection advocate, legal experts said the action will most likely reverberate in other states where legislators and investigators are increasingly questioning whether the industry should operate unfettered by regulations that govern legalized gambling.

“It is clear that DraftKings and FanDuel are the leaders of a massive, multibillion-dollar scheme intended to evade the law and fleece sports fans across the country,” Mr. Schneiderman said, adding, “Today we have sent a clear message: not in New York, and not on my watch.”

This, plus the inside shadiness w/ all that cash. They will probably remain legal, but have oversight from the gaming commission.

Fuck these guys. Rigged games, the employees of one site play and win on the other with inside info. The fucking endless commercials every weekend.

Here in Washington, we have things set up pretty good. Weed = legal. ScamDuel and GriftKings = Illegal.

It's not even the gambling as far as I'm concerned. The problem is that it's fixed. If it's an honest game, let the boys be boys. But this scam is as crooked as a dawg's hind leg. And Robert Kraft is in on the play.

Daily Fantasy will go the way of offshore betting as opposed to helping change regulation which most of us who give a fuck about gambling had hoped.

They went WAY overboard with advertising this season and it ended up pissing A LOT of people off.

This will definitely trickle down to every other state, not like the FanDuel and DraftKing employees should give a fuck, the higher ups made their dough already.

I honestly thought they had a chance to have the NFL and the government re-think their stance on sportsbooks gambling. You can bet in Vegas, you can bet horses at a horse track, but you can't bet a football game? and most importantly, you can gamble on daily fantasy?

Players and those involved with the league can potentially alter scores/outcomes to cover insanely large bets. potentially. But couldn't that be applied to FanDuel? That didn't stop the NFL from posting projected FanDuel stats on every fucking game so far this year.

The NFL was promoting it on a level that was shocking to me. FanDuel points became more important than individual statistics in 2015, with all of football coverage displaying the estimated FanDuel points right next to a player's individual stats.

So now FanDuel and Draft Kings are shunned. DFS is illegal (soon enough). But what about all these fucks that promoted it? Primarily, ESPN and the NFL? If its a multi billion dollar scheme to invade the law and fleece sports fans, shouldn't the two main promoters that gave these guys a forum be penalized? if this was all just a scheme to fleece sports fans?

and on a side note, to those who have money still in DFS, you cash out, right? I don't even think I am going to use it another week, I think i am just going to pull out :snicker:

I can see no way they win this against Fantasy sites. If they get rid of fantasy gambling, then horse racing would have to go. Same kind of betting. You are not betting on the teams, you betting against each other.

Agree, the government just wants their money, but how can they shut them down without shutting down horse racing which is the same thing. People bet against each other at the track, not against the house/track. The sites are going to take the horse route to beat the government.

Translation: Where is my cut of that sweet sweet cash?

It's adorable that some think a government does anything that doesn't feather their own nest first.

That said; will fucking Bellicheat tell us when he is going to run Blount or give him 3 carries?

Employees of DFS have been using data to make insanely large winnings. In fact, about 2% of DFS players account for over 90% of winnings. Its either people involved with DFS companies or those who make an actual business out of this data analysis that are making a killing in DFS. They just use the common idiots dough to fuel these major scores.

This same model can't be applied to horse racing. DFS sealed their fate with 1) the attention they brought with their insane advertising 2) allowing employees to use rival sites to make substantial sums of money using private data.

ESPN and the NFL are untouchable. They have paid off the correct people...FanDuel has not.

Eric is grandstanding. He does this all the time. Give him time and he will charge the chess board manufacturers with fostering illegal street gambling.
