Going to New York in about a week. What are your favorite places to eat ?
mamofoku noodle bar
Nobu is for shitheads
Also... Www.eater.com you can't go wrong.
you're going to be here for Halloween?
Its pumpkin everywhere time.
really, eating should be the least of your concerns (we don't really have any bad places, except maybe in Times Sq).
The Village is on full alert that week.
and the grill too.
Corner bistro. West 4th.. Lemme think of my other 4
The café at The American Girl Doll Place. You can bring your doll and she can sit in a little chair at the table with you. It's really a fun place.
Applebee's in Times Square.
Bemmelmans Bar at the Carlyle
I second the Les Halle suggestion above
Vote a nay on Peter Lugar's. Highly overrated.
That's for chumps. Red Lobster in Times Square is where it's at!
Fantastic hamburgers. It is usually packed, but they seat you pretty fast.
Screw that, Bubba Gumps is for the losers that like to order from the ping pong paddle menu.
Free slice of pizza with every beer.
John's Pizzeria on 44th.
Plus you need to go to Brooklyn, or - gasp - Great Neck.
There are a ton of steak houses right in Manhattan without having to leave the island.
"Favorite" isn't very helpful unless you also specify a budget. I could name a few high end restaurants but dinner for 2 will set you back $300-400.
Do you mortgage your house before you go?
A don't miss IMO.
This place freezes their steaks in those plastic bags that have all the air sucked out. They cook em to this really light grey color. Don't know how they do it. It's not just the food. Last time we were there the waiter came by and asked if we needed anything else before he brought the check. It's little details like that that makes New York cuisine special.
When I was at the Applebee's in Times Square, our waiter was very courteous and had a tag on his shirt so we knew his name was Eric - he didn't even have to tell us! Eric took our orders and diligently wrote them down on a notepad. He returned with our meals fifteen minutes later. My hamburger was wonderfully gamey, as if it had been sitting in the prep area for hours. The chef had cooked the meat for so long that it had an unfathomably chewy middle and the lettuce that hung down the sides was a brilliant brown color.
Little details, indeed!
KFC or Taco bell
