"Our interest is staying out of the politics of the moment, and not to provide photo ops" http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box...hief-denied-trump-request-to-address-officers New York City Police Department Commissioner Bill Bratton rejected Donald Trump's request to speak to officers Friday following an attack in Dallas Thursday that left five law enforcement officials dead. According to the New York Daily News, Trump asked to address NYPD officers at a 3 p.m. roll call, but Bratton called the request an attempt for a photo op. "Our interest is staying out of the politics of the moment, and not to provide photo ops," Bratton told reporters, according to the Daily News. "If Mr. Trump wants to speak to me, I would be happy to brief him on what we’re doing. If Sen. Clinton wants to speak to me, I would very happy to brief her on what we’re doing. But we are not in the business of providing photo ops for our candidates.” Trump's campaign spokeswoman denied that the campaign reached out with a request to address officers, a Politico reporter tweeted. Trump canceled a campaign event in Miami Friday in light of the shooting, calling it "an attack on our country." "It is a coordinated, premeditated assault on the men and women who keep us safe," the presumptive GOP presidential nominee said. The statement went on to send support and prayers to the "brave police officers and first responders who risk their lives to protect us every day." Five officers were killed and seven wounded in what appeared to be a coordinated attack by at least one sniper firing from an elevated position near the route where demonstrators were protesting the recent killings of black men by police.
