Mr. Radio Wars, Howard A. Stern:
He'll take on old wash-ups like Debella or corny faggots like Mark and Brian.
O&A call him out, and he runs to Mommy.
Jesus Christ, they go in hard!
I know a lot of people here don't care for the O&A show, but you have to give them credit for not only pointing out what a total asshole and hypocrite Howard was (long before anyone else did), but also for actually having to go through what he did to them when they worked for the same company. I vividly remember Stern admitting on air (during the reconciliation interview with Dee Schneider) that he (Wiggy) was out of his mind about ANY competition--which is why he rudely dropped Dee as a friend...just because Dee got a radio show in a small market that went up against Howard. Now consider the fact that despite all of Howard's propaganda, O&A were having real success at K-Rock--we now know how Howard reacted.
He was really threatened. Here come a couple of younger guys, on his own station, who are getting really popular, who are getting syndicated, who he perceives as potentially undermining his popularity with his fans as well as de-valuing his worth to K-Rock. So what does Howie do? He belittles their show on air, claiming--against all fucking evidence--that they are "imitators" who "rip him off." Anybody who has ever fucking listened to O&A can tell you their show isn't any more a rip-off of THSS than CSI is a rip-off of NYPD Blue. Then behind the scenes he acts like a Prima Donna with management and bullies Mel until O&A aren't even allowed to defend themselves against Stern's attacks.
Howard Stern is a despicable human being. As the boys point out in the audio clip, he's EVERYTHING he ever claimed Imus was...and a lot worse.
I found the write-up (on Marks Friggin) about how Howard completely shut-out Dee Snyder after he took a job in Hartford. Dee was broke and supposedly Howard actually helped him get into radio...but still Howard was so upset and competitive that he completely forced Dee out of his life and wanted him to fail. If he was willing to do that to a guy he claimed was a close personal friend for over a decade, it's not so shocking that he really went after his younger, hipper co-workers at K-Rock.
