Carrie Bess (Juror #9):
Mike Gilbert (OJ Simpson's former agent):
another thread about it
There's another one over at the bar (where I accidentally posted the quotes). I wasn't able to find a thread here.
Made in America and Destroyed by America. OJ fit the image of the black that made money and made whites feel good. He was the uneducated black they love to associate with--hated being black. Silent on every minority issue--race or class. AND he beat the shit out of his first wife (Marguerite) routinely while he was dating Nicole. Police knew it and so did his white friend. Everyone knew he bought a condo for Nicole while he was married to Marguerite. Daddy Goldman and his silly ass daughter are distraught. Why? Daddy Goldman was estranged from the homosexual son Ron. The documentary omitted those facts. But Ezra Edelman did include Nicole hesitated leaving the Juice because he was bankrolling the entire family. OJ is a woman beating animal. He deserves the 33 years in jail that just happens to be the same number of millions the jury awarded the Goldmans. I have yet to meet any blacks that like that SOB. He should be in jail forever but so should the Browns, the Goldmans and the agent/manager.
Never heard before that Fred Goldman was estranged from his son Ron, or that Ron was gay. Curious--where does this info come from?
This doc was off to a good start in Ep.1 but yeah they definitely didnt tell the full story from all sides.
Like most of these docs, the film maker's opinion or view gets in the way of the raw info.
Richard Pryor's Showtime documentary suffers from this too.
Agreed. Ezra Edelman is Marian Wright Edelman's son. Lots he didn't include, and he knows that. Why put Marguerite in it? I suspect she was so glad to get out alive from that animal. Rumor was she never said anything publicly during her time with him because of the children. Who knows? She was probably so happy OJ wanted a divorce to marry Nicole. No more beatings for her.
Marguerite OJ's first wife
"Director Ezra Edelman and executive producer Connor Schell talk about ESPN's five-part documentary, O.J.: Made in America. The film explores the themes of race and celebrity in our country over the last several decades through the lens of OJ Simpson's rise and fall."
I have heard that they were estranged, but not b\c Ron was gay - it was b\c of Ron's extravagant spending. I can't cite a source, though.
I didn't see it yet. Did they say how much coke Ron was dealing per week?
Why should Fred Goldman "be in jail forever"? Because he had issues with this son being gay like 99.9% of fathers in 1994 would? I never ever heard Ron Goldman was gay and I lived in LA during the that time. Not sure I even believe it.
And I get that the Browns are trashy, but why should they "be in jail forever"?
You sound like one of those annoying know-it-all idiots that annoys everyone at the bar.
I like when his buddy who helped him "retrieve" his
memorabilia said he wasn't going to go to jail for OJ.
He was saying OJ wouldn't have gone to visit him in
jail or put money on his books.
"Pardon the expression, but, FUCK HIM!"
"There's a bunch of guys in prison right now...all over the country...behind the code. And they gave their life up...for the code.
But I wasn't going to jail for no OJ Simpson...not me! If I did went to jail for him, you think he would have came to visit me?...NO! You think he would have gave me commissary?...NO!
Excuse my expression...but fuck him!
Are you a black man?
OK, lets say it's all true. All of it.
Let's say Ron Goldman was not gay, but bi, and he was fucking the shit out of Nicole. Let's say Ron Goldman was Nicole's drug connection, and they both did mountains of coke while lying naked on the hood of the Ferrari OJ paid for. Let's say Fred Goldman was estranged from his son, and became virulently anti-gay. Let's say OJ financed the entire Brown family to the tune of millions of dollars every year, and they all used the money purely for drugs and extravagant sex parties. Make up anything in your mind that's bad to do, and claim that the Browns and the Goldmans did it (without the burden of having to prove, or at least backup your claims in any way, it's pretty easy to come up with an impressive list).
Let's say it's all true.
How does that make OJ any less culpable in the death of Ron and Nicole?
...And if you say "oh, I'm not saying it make him less culpable, I just wanted the documentary to be fair...to be complete," then I'd explain to you that making claims when you have no proof that the claims are true is not fair or complete. It's irresponsible.
A couple of things really turned my stomach, like when the black defense lawyer was being interviewed, and he is still clearly happy that he got O.J. off, even raised his arms in victory and said "YES!" These defense lawyers are the definition of dirtbag, just the lowest form of humanity..
Also, all the black people screaming in joy when he was declared not guilty, like one of their own got away with it, meanwhile, OJ is not even black. The dindu's are so fucking stupid and ignorant of this fact. Then when they show OJ, after being ostracized from his community, appearing at black churches and tv shows, and he's putting on the black voice....I wanted to start fires I was so aggravated!
Oh, no need to explain further.
Everyone knows that everyone is a very reliable source.
I need to hear what everyone has to say about this.
