I wonder how much he actually brewed himself.
That said brewing beer is one hell of a great hobby.
According to the article he served up a batch at the Whitehouse Superbowl party, but that was not the first time it's been served. Seems like kind of a regular thing.
The fact that they literally keep bees and harvest the honey is kinda cool too!
And are the bees in trouble?
I don't know much about it, but it seems like a buttload of work.
Have you ever brewed your own?
My brother-in-law makes his own wine and has made beer too.
Beer is more work than wine, but I don't think it's THAT much. You have to mix the right ingredients at the right times and store it properly, but otherwise you just let it sit. I think it's one of those things that's a mess the first time you do it, but once you have all the stuff and establish a method/routine it's fairly easy.
...but I've never done it so I really have no idea what I'm talking about.
Basically you boil your ingredients, put it in a carboy (5 gallon jug) with a special valve at the top, after it ferments in there you transfer it to a bucket with a valve at the bottom. You then fill your bottles and cap them. You follow the recipe, adding ingredients as told and the basic ingredients are hops, barley malt yeast water and a special sugar.
The only hard work is sanitizing everything but you you a rinseless solution for it so it isn't too bad.
Then after time in the bottles (all beer is different, your recipe will let you know) your beer is ready. There is about an hour of prep, an hour of work at the initial time and the bottling time and a month of wait. It isn't bad at all and it gets addicting as hell you will find yourself making a lot more beer than you will drink so you can give some away to your friends. Here is the best place to buy your kit, then you can buy ingredients at local brewing supplies which are everywhere or you can buy some here. http://www.midwestsupplies.com/homebrewing-equipment/equipment-kits/compare-all-kits.html
You will notice if you get a hangover it is a tenth of what you would get from the major beer makers. Its because you are
Fitting choice of words.
Yeah just hope your addiction to making it is stronger than drinking.
Those Cambridge cops acted stupidly. Gulp, gulp, gulp.
Um, errrr- yea. It totally is.
Sorry, when I first started making it I drank daily every day and there was no way I could make it quick enough. Maybe a bad pun.
I have a beermeister/kegerator, whatever you call it.
I did not replace the last keg that kicked... for a reason.
Now it all makes sense.
i bought in to hope and change
