News Ohio: FBI asks for public's help to catch suspected serial child abductor

    Over the last eight months, Ohio investigators have received over 300 tips as they desperately search for a man the authorities are calling a “serial kidnapper.”

    According to ABC News, the suspect is targeting young children.

    Ohio police and the FBI both believe that the kidnapping of a Cleveland girl from her home in May and an attempted kidnapping of another little girl in Elyria, Ohio, in February are forensically connected.

    As ABC News reports, the suspect snatched the Cleveland girl out of her bed during the earlier morning hours of May 21st. He later dropped her off in a different neighborhood roughly 17 hours later.

    The girl's mother, Kristy Jones, tells ABC News she is eager to track down the man who took her daughter because “there’s no kid safe out there while he’s out.”

    According to ABC News, the suspect was seen in surveillance footage wearing a hat and a hooded sweatshirt walking down an alley near the girl's home a week before to her abduction.



    The Elyria, Ohio, girl was able to fight off the kidnapper and alert her father. But the kidnapper fled before her father could reach him. The father could be heard on the 911 call saying:

    “Someone just tried to come in my daughter's window and grabbed her leg.”

    FBI special agent Vicki Anderson tells ABC News that they don't believe the suspect personally knew either of these two victims. According to the Polly Klass Foundation, only about one-percent of kidnapping victims are taken by a stranger, making these cases extremely rare:

    “We have one of those very rare occurrences that is actually a stranger abduction,“ special agent Anderson admits. ”And so that makes it even more dangerous.”

    The suspect is described as a white male with light brown hair and a “neatly-trimmed” beard. The man stands at about 5-foot-10-inches tall with at least one tattoo. It's believed that the suspect is driving a Chevrolet Malibu with a mismatched front panel.

    The suspect is also viewed by investigators as “cold and calculated”. According to ABC News, the man cases his victim’s homes numerous times before attempting an abduction. He also unlocks windows, doors and even breaks into the residence when adults are home.

    Special agent Anderson admits the suspect is fearless:

    "He is fearless. He is after a child, that’s his objective and that’s scary.”

    It's important for people to treat these reports as if it were an Amber Alert. It takes the eyes of the public to help the authorities catch the perpetrator.

    The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.

    On another note, It's funny, when I see the FBI mentioned at all, I just laugh at them. They have zero credibility.

    Sometimes you just gotta smoke a joint or take a piss in public.

    I'm sure the FBI is doing this but start off w/ a list of 2002-2003 Malibu registered in the perimeter around the kidnapping. Knock on doors, ask to see their car and move on. That panel replacement is distinct and should nab the guy quickly with it being in the public sphere.

    Yeah, cuz I'm sure they're gonna put resources into tracking down the guy who took a piss in public or was smoking a joint. Law enforcement's just sitting around with their thumbs up their asses waiting for that crucial collar. Also, you do know you can't really prove from a video that you weren't smoking a cigarette, right?
