Olbermann makes Howard Stern seem like a down-to-earth easygoing well adjusted guy.

I was a huge fan of Olbermann during those dark post-9/11 days and all during the criminal Bush/Cheney regime but he has become a humongous fucking embarrassment.

That appearance on Letterman where he likened himself to a "$10 million chandelier" rivals the hubris of George W. Bush's preening "Mission Accomplished" flight-deck strut.

Keith should just evaporate now like a bad fart.

This. Keith's an arrogant primadonna and I hope Current cleans him the fuck out. I knew trouble was a-brewing when he was absent the entire second week of his "Current" show. I also remember last baseball season, he would be inexplicably absent from his show, and then tweet from the baseball game the same day. People are saying Letterman was lobbing softball questions to him, but I thought he took several swipes at him, first of all ridiculing his stupid chandelier analogy, and pointing out that the main, incredible reason for Olbermann's temper tantrum was that the studio lighting wasn't to his liking.

Speaking of Twitter, Olbermann seems to be adopting Howard's strategy and only letting the kiss-ass, anti-"Current" tweets get through.

This is gonna sound like nonsense but we quit watching him in this house after he kept showing up in the dark studio without a suit or even a tie.
Goddamn... who wants to see a newscaster dressed like a civilian???

Pre 2008 election I was a huge fan of Olbermann and watched his show everyday. This guy must be a wackjob to get fired from two shows like that.

It's really disappointing to hear him behave this way. I was HUGE fan of his MSNBC show and thought his take was right on the money most of the time. He has issues and should try to carve out a niche for himself where he is his own boss.

Senator Rick I am not saying your wrong about the Bush years, but this new guy makes the Bush regime look like Mother Teresa was running it.

As for Olberman, he should has stuck with sports.

I'm no liberal, but I had some Lefty friends who knew my sensibilities and urged me to give both him and Maddow a try...not because I'd agree with their attempt at a narrative, but because I couldn't stomach the knuckle dragging at Fox and grew frustrated with cable news altogether. I was promised some substance and genuine analysis over at MSNB and, well, it refused to deliver.

Olbermann, specifically, was just a long-winded, pompous infomercial focused on bashing Murdoch and O'Reilly. During the brief period I watched, it seemed that a significant part of each show was dedicated to destroying the reputation of Murdoch and his employees. And I don't mean in regard to issues or propaganda, but of their private lives and character. It was embarrassing.

I find Maddow to be an incredibly unlikable and smug person...somebody who amplifies her "nerdity" and pretends to be pop-culturally aloof when she clearly isn't. But I've learned shit from her show...on the rare occasion that I watch it. Before the the Koni 2012 bullshit was an internet trend for 8 whole minutes, she was bringing to light the fact that the Democratically elected GOVERNMENT in Uganda was pushing to make homosexuality a capital offense. There's value in Maddow's show...if you can stomach it. With Olbermann, not so much. Unless you're in need of a cheerleader who'll help you reinforce your political philosophy, I don't get why anybody would tune in.

I don't understand how some of you couldn't' see this blow hard for what he was WAY back in 2008. It's not as if he's changed his spots. He's a monumental egomaniac who thinks he's brilliant...in truth he is nothing more than a petulant child who can't control his rage. How people mistake this for indignation is beyond me. Keith Olbermann has been and will continue to be a delusional lunatic.

Olbermann was the only son of a bitch actually speaking out against the insanity of the Bush/Cheney regime's (and later President Obama's) over-reach with all the invasion of privacy laws enacted post 9/11.
That he became a preening egomaniac was an unfortunate turn of events but the best comments on this appear in Chimney Portions post #11 of this thread:

That scumbag George W thought he destroyed all the evidence of his war crimes. LOL

"Zelikow also noted that he had warned in a secret memo in 2006 that the torture techniques breached international and US war crimes laws.

The Bush administration immediately rejected Zelikow's report and ordered copies of the memo to be destroyed. "

"scumbag"? and you're getting your news from something called presstv? Why not just get your news from Al Jazeera? What a fucking idiot you are.

I thought Olbermann was a whining douche on Sportscenter. I never bothered to watch him after he left.

It's good to see I was right in my assessment.

It's like Howard's deal with Sirius. Current gave him more money than he'd ever been paid and the largest staff he'd ever had. If Keith didn't like the lighting fixtures in the studio designed to his demands, he should have paid for better light fixtures out of his own pocket.

There are over 100 different news sources that are presently reporting this, except Fox news, of course. LOL

I guess that explains why you deny the truth.

What privacy laws exactly? Anybody you know been personally been affected? Anybody detained by the secret police? Anybody stripped of their civil rights as a US citizen that wasn't affiliated with terrorism? If not, then please...enough with the hyperbole. Olbermann clearly suffers from Bush derangement syndrome and him being the "only" guy criticizing Bush in a public forum doesn't necessarily help your case. KO was a useful idiot for MSNBC who had a BUSINESS plan to compete and counter the tremendous success of Fox News. Of course they are going to hire lefty blowhards to criticize a Republican administration. What's remarkable is that during the Bush years, MSNBC couldn't get a leg up on Fox and now even during the Obama years they still can't get a leg up. What's wrong with that picture?

Regardless, Olbermann burned bridges at ESPN prior to MSNBC. He then burned that bridge. Came to Current TV and guess what? He's now burned that bridge. He's a hateful, jealous narcissist that has no class and his history has shown that pattern time and time again. Why would you assume that a guy like this has any integrity or ever had any to begin with? He didn't become a "preening egomaniac"...that's who he was, is and will always be.
