So THAT'S what your tattoos will look like when you're old! Pensioners show off skin covered in ink... but have no regrets over their body art
    • A collection of photos displays what extreme tattoos look like in later life
    • The images see elderly men and women strip down to show off their ink
    • The designs are similar to those favoured by the modern-day hipster

For many of us the fear of how a tattoo will look on ageing skin, is the main reason we decide not to get inked.

After all, while a sleeve of tattoos might seem appealing at the age of 22, how will it look on an over-60 with crepey skin?

Now thanks to a series of pictures of heavily tattooed elderly men and women posing in their underwear, we can see how the body art of youth looks on a mature physique.

In a series of submissions to BoredPanda, several elderly people with an edge, being dubbed Old Age Hipsters, aim to prove that inkings can be just as rebellious at 60 as they are at 16.

Far from subtle, the collection of photographs sees the group of elderly tattoo fans displaying huge and often full body designs.

As well as black and white inkings the pensioners display various colourful designs

The pride displayed in the pictures may be a sign of changing times as it was recently revealed that fewer of us go on to regret our ink.

According to the Harris Institute of Research it was revealed in April last year that those who are choosing to decorate their skin seem to be on the whole happy with the result with 86 per cent of those questioned have 'never regretted' their tattoos.

The research further revealed that for the first time in recorded history, women are slightly more likely to have them than men - and twice as likely to later have them removed.

The crypt keeper hands are a little off putting, but I would still love to take grandma out and shake the dust off.

That last picture has to be photoshopped. If not, that is the smoking gun with respect to the wig theory. He looks like an absolute fucking asshole.

Me too. I see girls at the gym with tatoos everywhere, and wonder how well they thought that through.

Growing up in the 70's and 80's, very few people I knew had any ink. Mostly, it was guys from high school who joined the military and came back for leave with an eagle on their arms. Even bands of the day didn't sport a lot of ink. Steven Tyler had a couple, and Bon Scott had them up and down both arms. Some of the hair band guys in the 80's started getting inked, but it wasn't like everybody in the band had full sleeves.

Today, every other kid you see has a tattoo. My friend and I were at Lollapalooza last year and talked about how almost everyone there except us was inked. I think I see even more ink on young women these days than guys. By the time these millenials turn 50, it won't be a big deal at all because they'll all be laughing about their Chinese letters, yin yang symbols, and DMB logos. I do wonder why anyone who knows that they will have to work for someone else in any kind of corporate setting would go and get something plastered on their neck.
