I'm thinking of buying an old pinball machine, preferably with electro-mechanical, not digitial display-at least two player, with a sports (football) theme.

I know I can probably find one online, but does anyone have any experience or expertise is knowing what to look for/how much to pay (obviously depending on condition), type advice?

    Thnks

    This is sound advice.

If you ever watch Pawn Stars on the History channel, those guys are always buying old pinball machines and taking them in for refurbish and the cost can be thousands of dollars. The electronics are the main thing but also bank on having to replace bumpers, paddles etc.

    Good luck.

Thanks, I'm learning that as I do-saw some at a local antique store today. Very wide range of prices and conditions. +rep for the replies.

    Very cool-I want a multi-player like that. I found a site that looks good....www.pinrescue.com

They restore and ship-games seem to mostly be in the 2,5000- 3,000 range (but are fully restored.

That one I think I've played. I was a real mark for a pinball machine back in the day.

Here's a couple more leads to suppliers. Most of their games appear to be digital, but you may have to call and ask what they can find. www.pinballco.com has a good selection of Bally games from the late 80's to present, www.coin-opgames has less of a selection of Stern games listed, but may be able to find what you want. The advantage to coin-op is they're based in Oregon, so there's no sales tax charged on what they sell.

My dream pinball machine is The Addams Family. My family went to a lake for a week and they had one at a nearby snack bar. I must have dropped $25 in one evening on that thing. I had plead with my parents for the extra scratch, "When we get home, I promise I'll clean the kitchen every day, vacuum the house, and mow the front and back lawn. Just give me more quarters pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!".

Addams Family is a super popular one...they can be 10k plus fully restored. You have good taste!

This one held it's own against video games at the arcade I used to go to back in the day. One day I will have one.

I actually also want one called 'Odin'-have no idea of the manufacturer or anything. I was in a college bar one time and started playing it with a girl. We both were playing well and won a bunch of free games.

And now my little pinball princess is my wife.

Xenon is fun. When you start a ball you stare at her butt and it says "Entering Xenon."
