This is why NBC is not so worried about AGT tanking. They are covering their losses.

Interesting that they break up the ratings each half hour for this but not for AGT.

I wonder if he feels even a tiny bit foolish now, for all his hype about AGT. Jon Hein last week "There's not a lot on tv right now"

Clearly people tuned in looking for AGT and stayed to watch the Olympics.
    :wop:
Stern must get some of the credit for these amazing ratings.

When AGT returns and its ratings sink even lower, Howard can use the excuse that the Olympics broke up AGT's huge momentum and the slow build will have to start over again.

NBC doesn't know how to schedule.
They should air AGT every four years, Robin.

:backlol: They don't like wiggy! :jj:

Or maybe the NBC brass have voted and they are still kicking themselves over blowing $3.5MM on the Superbowl commercial!!!! (it was only 30 seconds, right?)

Ratings were building until Howard stopped hugging minorities and dancing with the gays.
Howard and Beth need to adopt a minority family. Its never been done before....could be revolutionary....:wop:

Maybe Fartman being lowered down onto the Queen? Obviously something Stern would have helped, just like it helped AGT.

The Super Bowl was on NBC. Usually the advertising barely covers the cost they have to pay to the NFL to air it. Other than the cost to make it the commercial was free. The network has several spots an hour that are not for sale and used to promote their own products. It the real reason they want the game to begon with. To advertise thier own stuff in front of the biggest TV audience of the year.

In Economics it's called "Opportunity Cost", all networks that broadcast the Superbowl can promote their own shows, or take the cool hard cash an advertiser would pay them.

Given their shit lineup as the #4 network, maybe they had no alternatives on shows to promote, but they could have always taken $3.5MM from Chevy or Anheuser-Busch, etc.

Given the 20+% drop in ratings, do you think NBC thinks the money forgone (not to mention production costs of commercial) were worth it?
