NFL owners approved the Competition Committee's proposal on extra points for the 2015 season.

The NFL announced the extra point will now be kicked from the 15-yard line with two-point conversions remaining at the 2-yard line. The new rule also gives the defense the ability to score two points on returns.

According to the rule change, if the defense returns a blocked extra point or failed two-point try for a touchdown (i.e. on an interception), they will be awarded two points. Under the previous rule the ball was dead on a failed try.

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Goodell earned his 44 million yearly salary just for that, anything else is gravy.

The Patriots, right now, are working on a way around the rule.

This sounds like some dumb tweak of the rules. How about bringing back kickoff runbacks?

Beat me to it. Watching guys like Devin Hester and Deion Sanders returning kickoffs was some of the most exciting stuff in the game and they turned that into a tepid catch the ball and sit on it in the back of the endzone, or watch the ball sail past the endzone.

@EasyJesus how is this going to affect your NFL betting? :munch: I would steer clear for a while and see how it shakes out

Two points isn't worth running the length of the field for.

Won't change much as far as extra point strategy goes. A successful 33 yard field goal is probably still in the 90-95% range. 2 point conversion is still about 50%

If the ball is mishandled by the holder can they make a play for the endzone and would it be worth 2 points if completed?

Is being a rapist, murderer of wife beater worth any extra points of just cash bonuses?
