When I'm in the mood for spicy, I'd say about 8 or 9. I like it to have a definite kick, but not so much that the heat overpowers the other flavors.

An 8 on my scale. What's mild to me is typically very hot to most.
I like flavorful heat if that makes sense. Hot just to be hot isn't my thing. So heat scale, probably 7 to 8.
I have some "Carolina Reaper" sauce that is a 2.2 MILLION on the Scoville unit.
8.5 can't deal with the kung pao like I used to though.
