SiriusXM released it's new media player in beta form and it has On Demand. It's pretty damn awesome.

Here are some points about it.
-Your favorite channels are displayed in an easy dock right below what you are listening to
-Music Channels you still have limited FFWD and Rewind do to Music Royalty BS.
-On Demand! Many whole shows are uploaded to the system and you can listen back
-Listening back to talk you can scroll back and forth to the minute. And so far the ads have been removed.
-Shows are available for different periods of time. For the Stern shows it looks like they will be in the system for about 30 days. Some other shows seem to expire in a couple days. It just depends
-Links to purchase the songs on iTunes and Amazon

They are still in the process of loading shows into the system. And from what I gather we may be able to hear old shows in their entirety. Depending on what they put up. Obviously they won't just put up every show ever played but will probably cycle through some old stuff.

I know people are disenfranchised with Stern or SiriusXM but this is a very big deal and a move forward. They should have it on the Lynx soon and hopefully on the Apps at sometime in the future. I'm hoping it helps people find shows and content they would have never tuned into. For me I always miss Boombox Radio on Saturday nights and it's good I can just play that 2 hour show with this new player. Amongst other things.

Great but does it resolve the issue of being 5 minutes behind the real feed on the Internet player? The most recent one is a good 3-5 minutes behind the old player ya can still use.

I've been testing it since yesterday and so far it's working really well. Sirius finally added a mini-player option but I can't get it to launch. Maybe the option hasn't been activated yet.

The three + minute delay is still there and I doubt it will ever play in real-time.

Too late. People have been able to download entire shows for free for years. While it's nice they've finally come around, is it really that big of a deal? Carolla's crappy app could download the last 100 shows and you could use the slider to get to the exact point in time.

Sirius is still lagging behind when it comes to an Internet presence. Their over the air hardware remains a joke. They're damn lucky new cars are equipped with satellite radio. If not for them, the satellite portion of the service is worthless.

That's why I use my iPhone and MusicDock or the SiriusXMStreamer for the listening thread.

You don't need to buy any Sirius stuff to use the Sirius player. There are also other shows than THSS to listen to on SiriusXM too.

    Looks great and it works!

I really hope they upgrade the bitrate on the streams, too.

I have a real question because the SiriusXM Lynx page is sort of vague...let's say that you use the Lynx only in your car, hooked up to receive the satellite signal--never connecting it to a wifi hotspot. Can it still access non-live content, or do you have to be on wifi to get the On Demand content? If it can, are you able to (for example) download a talk show from yesterday, while listening to something else?

I actually enjoy SiriusXM and have been a subscriber for 9 years--BUT their hardware and pricing leave a LOT to be desired. The Lynx is $250? That's fuckin' ridiculous. Nobody can tell me that they're not trying to make a big profit on hardware when what they should be doing is making their money on reasonably priced subscriptions. Holy fuck, for the money they're charging for the Lynx, I can buy a Google Nexus Tablet with an IPS screen and have $50 left over to buy beer, porn, and pizza.
