The last two days when I've logged into pokerstars a message displays indicating if I'm in New Jersey I can set up a new account to legally play poker. Anyone signed up yet and are there any limitations?

    More than a little jealous...

I miss Pokerstars so much. Used to play all the time when it was legal. Then they took it all away except Jersey in the US.

I heard it sucks now and I think Jersey people can only play other Jersey people. Can't play with the others in the world. That was the best part about stars was how big it was. You could cash in big tourneys easily if you played tight.

I play on Bovada once and while now, but the software is horrendous.

I hear what you are saying but it's better to be able to play with people in your own state than to not be able to play at all. Have you had any issues taking money out of Bovada?

i heard it was easy to make money back in the day bc so many people were shitty players. Now everyone uses programs or colludes with other players. is it still worth playing?

No, and in fact, I'm told they just added "Bit-Coin" so it should be even easier.

I have had deposit issues in the past with Bovada - my card will decline and my bank will call me about unauthorized transactions. I don't do too many withdrawals, but I have and got a check in pretty reasonable time. It was from some weird ass Malaysian bank, but I was able to cash it.

You have to pick your stakes and tables wiser these days, back in the day, everyone wanted to play hold em. I think if you learn Omaha, and some other games, you have a better chance of finding weaker players. I am in a state that has casinos, but they are mostly in big cities. I look forward to the day they allow more casinos and even make poker legal so poker rooms and non-profits hold games. I just hope I am not too old to play and win some cake

I live in a city with a casino (Columbus) and make a small profit playing live but did much better online before the shutdown. The issue I've found playing live is you must avoid playing big pots with white males over 60 without the nuts.

Online poker is not legal in the US except until recently in New Jersey. The biggest sites were shut down by the DOJ five years ago and the players bankrolls were frozen for a couple of years depending on the site.

    This.

I have a much harder time getting a read on older players than I do any other group. I play tight most of the time and don't mind playing all night, raking small pots. I have the patience to wait out most young guns who play any two cards to showdown, but when those old guys spike a big pot, they usually have the nuts or have huge pot odds going.

Online poker is legal in Nevada and NJ and I think PA just voted to allow it. The problem is it is only intrastate not interstate - you cant play against people from other states or countries. Another problem is that it is age restricted to 21 and over. Both these issues create a very tough player pool and not many opportunities to make real money.

You guys are aware that there is zero legal oversight to ensure the software is not completely crooked? They are "licensed" on Native American lands so they don't have to follow US laws regarding gaming security.

At least playing live you know you're not being cheated.
