I was just listening to Farmhouse for like the first time in 15 years, and it sounded so crazy to listen to a Phish studio album.

    Shit was fucking cray cray.

I typically look at Phish albums as a baseline for jam vehicles in a love setting, but sometimes its nice to hear a nice studio work.

From a songwriting, and studio, perspective, I would call Farmhouse and Billy Breathes the high water marks. Given that the band, and their fans, have referred to albums as a "necessary evil," I think the band has had some decent moments in the studio.

I'm a fan of the studio stuff. Hoist might be my favorite, but Farmhouse is nice too

yeah, I agree with your take on the albums, and their purpose.

I've just been listening to so many shows the past 15 years, that to hear the studio versions was funny.

Hoist is good as well. I also think Round Room is kind of underrated. Cool idea how they made the album in a couple weeks. Some of these songs (46 Days, Seven Below, Pebbles and Marbles, WotC) haev insane jams in a live setting

Its not the best. Its fun on certain occasions (Vegas, Riviera Maya), but its not a well crafted Phish tune.

Walls of the Cave and 46 degrees, along with Waves and Mexican Cousin had me really hating that album when it came out.

Fortunately the first two have grown on me.

Love me some Waves. Oddly enough, one of the best versions ever was never meant for human consumption

Divided Sky is by far my favorite Phish tune, you have to respect treys guitar skills in the studio or out of the studio
