Really the best movie I've seen in a long, long time.

Stars Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck (another awesome performance by this shamefully underrated actor), Willem Dafoe, Sam Shepard, Forrest Whitaker, an unrecognizable Zoe Saldana, and the great character actor Tom Bower.

Not a bad performance in this hyper-tense movie -the exception being Eddie Vedder's overwhelming presence on the unnecessarily morbid soundtrack- but Bale, Casey Affleck, and Woody STEAL the fucking movie.

Woody's over the goddamn top in villainy from his first scene. Bale and Casey turn in these deceptively low-key performances.
It's all about bare-knuckle fighting, redneck meth-head thug hillbillies from Bergen County, New Jersey versus a Pennsylvania iron worker and his younger Iraq war-scarred veteran brother.
    Goddamn.
Took me two hours to calm my wired-out ass down before sleep and Xanax could render me null & void.

    Look -see this goddamn movie!
Do you realize that Netflix is cheaper than HBO? Better selections, too.

And it looks kind of like this:

I saw that , It was pretty good. Anything Woody Harrelson is in is usually good.

It was a great movie, very dark. If you liked that one, watch "Joe" with Nick Cage, sort of a similar "dark' theme..I really liked it as well..

I'm gonna look for that today. Wife's in Manhattan for the weekend.
If it's no longer on Netflix, I check the torrents sites.

Joe was really good too. Out of character for Cage. Pulled it off really well.

It's a rainy gloomy day here in South Jersey, sounds perfect.

    Oh shit man!
I got this one in my "saved" pile on Netflix!!!
    I also own the novel.
It's by one of my favorite authors, Larry Brown -lived down in Oxford, Mississippi -& died shortly after I moved up to New York's Hudson Valley region way up here.

He died just after receiving due acclaim.
He was fifty something and just succumbed to a heart attack outta nowhere.
A guy in fit condition, happily married father. Had an amazing future & the potential to only become a even more accomplished author.

Every one of his books that I've read have been stupendous.
Kinda redneck noir only with more heart than usually found in Grit Lit, as the wags call it.

I'm gonna start watching this in about 15 minutes. Got wine chilled and all that shit.
Best pizzeria in the village awaits my phone call -it's not New York City great but it's the best I've found anywhere outside of NYC.

Look out world, I'm stomping through!
