Chris Russo was railing on this today and he is absolutely right. They are having a parade at 11am Friday during a weekday which is going to inconvenience people who work or have to get to the city. The team has nothing to do with NYC. In addition the city is spending over $1 million to stage the parade when they are struggling to pay for other city services. The team were heavy favorites to win the cup over Japan. This isn't an underdog story. New York is already packed during the Summer with tourists. Why not hold the parade in Washington, DC. New York City and Philadelphia already have to spend huge money this fall when the Pope visits. You can't believe the expenditures they are laying out for security alone. In the Philadelphia they are talking about building an 8ft high perimeter fence in the city.
