its actually sad because there use to be a time when flying in this great country was fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

piano bars. unlimited drinks!! raffles for champagne, wine and other cool things. hot flight attendants. it was fucking awesome. and then came the muslims, the feminist , the terrorist (same as muslims) and the government (deregulation) and now you have this. 15,000 first class seats or chattel class in the back!

when i was a kid my dad was in the Navy in Puerto Rico I was about 9 (1975) I was on an eastern L1011 alone heading to pr. on the way my cat got loose on the flight and i spent my time chasing the fucker with the help of the flight attendants and I won a raffle for a giant sized bottle of champagne, at 9! they handed me the bottle walked me to my dad and sent me on my way! that my friend was the USA at its best. if you didn't live through the 70's you have no idea how cool it got before it all went to shit! I miss that America it was fucking awesome.

That might have been fun for you but I'm guessing the other passengers weren't happy about some brat and his cat running amok on the plane.

When boarding a plane, people need to sit down and shut up so I can get to Point B as quickly and quietly as possible.

Flying was fun. Now it's just a crowded bus in the sky.

Couldn't agree more. They need to board and deboard the plane with military precision. If you hold everyone up trying to find a space for your fucking coat, you get led out to the Tarmac and get two behind the ear. In full view of all other passengers. Walk in, find your seat, sit down and shut the fuck up until the plane is in the air.

American is the worst of the major carriers.
I will have traveled over 100k miles by the end of this year.
American is the airline of last resort.

Not only do they mistreat passengers, they don't maintain their fleet.
They have the worst on-time record in the industry.
My last flight with them was delayed because they couldn't boot a navigation computer.

American Airline will be the next airline to kill a plane load of its own passengers.
    They simply don't care.
If you thought United was bad after the merger with Continental,
American has taken bad to a whole new level since the merger with USAir.

I'm all for freedom and liberty but when it comes to flying I turn into a North Korean. Security lines? Everyone wears a standard jumpsuit and no jewelry. Everyone gets a black 12x12x12 cube carry-on.

Sit down. Shut up. You don't need food or a drink. Even if you are going from Seattle to Miami it will only be 6 hours. People in covered wagons needed food and drinks.

You are in a metal tube slinging across the sky at 600 mph. It's a miracle. Not saying the greedy airlines are blameless, but people really need to chill out and let the crew do their jobs.

I have nearly 2,000,000 with AA and sadly I have to partially agree. The "New American" came in spring of 2014 and they have started retiring the MD-80s and are replacing them with A319's and A321's on domestic routes in the US. Finally getting some decent IFE. Their international service is good if you are on one of the new 777-300's. I live in a major hub (DFW) so I rarely have to connect but they book way too many tight connections and people constantly miss flights and screw up the system for days.

Best domestic experience right now is Virgin America if you can deal with all the hipsters.

    I prefer Southwest.
    No muss, no fuss.
Delta is a close second and I have medallion FF status with them.
I don't pay for my bags and I get priority boarding.

I live in Houston and unfortunately have to use American occasionally because DFW is a hub.

    Their service is incredibly bad.
My last flight into Hobby Airport in Houston was on a Friday evening.
Hobby is a small regional airport at the other end of the city.
I walked off the plane at 10:45 PM.
Over an hour later, none of the bags had made it to the carousel.
Not a single AA employee anywhere in the terminal.
I contact AA and all they do is give you the same old canned email response.
    They simply do not care.
That's the level of service from AA these days.
They are a very poorly managed company and their front line employees just don't give a shit any more.
AA will end up in a firesale bankruptcy.

Personally, I will celebrate the day AA goes tits up.

We were coming back from Cabo. The wife made sure my then toddler kids went to the bathroom before landing. We landed but were stuck taxi-ing forever. One of my kids needed to go again. After 20 mins or so, it was clear we're still waiting for a gate and my kid really needed to go. My wife look up and down the aisle but could not get the stewardess attention. She then unbuckled, semi-stood up to alert the stewardess at the back of the plane. The older bitch stewardess jumped up and yelled up the aisle for her to SIT DOWN embarrassing my already relatively timid and good-natured wife. She then proceeds to inform the captain who then announces in a very calm manner that FAA regulations prohibits anyone from unbuckling and then any trips should have been made prior to landing. F him.

It ended well though when after a few minutes, the other much prettier and younger stewardess then came up and took my kid to the bathroom. We ended up not moving on the tarmac for another hour or so. On the way out, we profusedly thanked that stewardess and gave the bitch standing next to her the stink eye.

American Airlines does suck as a general rule.

I will wait to see footage of the actual incident, rather than just footage of the aftermath, before forming an opinion here, however.

Delta platinum medallion here. The only thing I'd fly American for is to try that new 787. Otherwise they can go piss up a rope.
