Everyone knows that Howard is now the King of All Sellouts...

But what about those who did it their way and didn't change for a quick cash out?

And I'm not joking about Gilbert. Yeah, he does TONS of commercial shit, but he's never once let that dictate what he says and does. He was working for Disney when he did the "Bindy Reggie tits" bit.

didn't the Beastie Boys sort of sell out? they were originally a punk band and I heard they switched to rap mainly because it was popular at the time. that's the definition of selling out.

I go with people who dramatically changed who or what they stood for ... for a quick cash out

I have nothing with someone changing their style.... the beasties are kind of one of those bands where you can argue it both ways

Yeah, they were very early on, but I was never a big fan so I'm not really one to judge on that front. Similar to Alice in Chains, they started as a hair metal band.

I don't think the Bestie boys ever sold out because no one offered them anything too sell out. I doubt any advertisers were beating down their door to do lets say a Pepsi ad.

    Just sayin.

Tough one to judge....You could argue everyone has sold out. I loved George Carlin, but could it be argued that he sold out when he did his sitcom on FOX for a couple of years? George apparently hated working with Sam Simon BTW.

Neil Young lecturing Americans about racism is the definition of selling out in my book, "The Southern Man Don't Need Him Around Anyhow" and all that.
