From the story: The young soldier from a small town in Oklahoma said that he first tried to give the information to The Washington Post, but a reporter there didn't seem like she took him seriously.
He left a voice mail for The New York Times and sent an e-mail to the newspaper but, he says, he didn't hear back.
So, he said, he decided to give the information to WikiLeaks.

His mistake was that the wrong President was in office when he tried to give it to them.

Yep, no connection between politicians and the media at all. No quid pro quo. No shared agenda.

My issue with PFC Manning is I don't think he's a whistleblower. In my opinion, a whistleblower needs to be blowing a whistle on something specific. This guy grabbed a bunch of documents and said "hey, if someone finds something, I'm a whistleblower."

Snowden, on the other hand, is a classic whistleblower.

If prison can make you gay, 3 years in solitary can get you addicted to jerking off.

I'm amazed that officers in the facility in which he is being kept managed to keep him from committing suicide these past three years.

I think military prison is much different from "the big house" we see in movies and tv.

He was found guilty of everything else and still faces 151 years in the brig and likely a dishonorable discharge.... Sentencing tomorrow.
