Forgot to post a couple days ago, but new album out October 7th.

Not sure what songs will be on it. Assumbly the stuff from 2016 tour, and hopefully some stuff from 2015.

The piece in the promo sounds pretty cool

I went to high school with Mike Gordon, he was nothing like he is now. I'm not sure anyone knew he played bass.

I've seen them about a dozen times since they came back in 2009 and have left every show pretty much pissed that I spent the money/time to see them. Saw them around 80 times from 1997-2004 and it's been such a noticeable decline that I will only see them in a 30 mile radius, which limits me to Alpine.

watched the Dick's webcasts last week and they seemed to be on to something, but like all stand-out runs with them, they go back to boring predictable shows the next night.

Panic is where it's at right now.

Yea, the Dicks run was incredible...definitely not indicative of the somewhat pedestrian tour. The Portland show that @Cookiepus referenced was kind of boring for a Phish show.

Id have to check my numbers, but I got about 75 shows from 98-04, and 60/65 from 2009- onward. I have pretty reasonable expectations for the band; Im not going into a show expecting Fall '97. There might be a little bit of a predictability/consistency issue, especially with the first set, but I would still say they keep the creativity pretty high. Definitely 2015, and probably fall '13, can stand toe to toe with tours in the 90's (Leg II of 2012, and the 2012 NYE run is up there as well). I certainly wouldnt say they are at the 97-99 highwater mark, but I dont know if I would call it "such a noticeable decline;" more like a new tangent (2016 not wishtanding, which, outside of the Dicks run, was pretty off).

Never been a huge Panic guy. I like their songs, but I think their improvisation is pretty boring. If I had to pick a "jam band" to listen to outside of Phish (or Dead, duh), it would be Umphreys McGee or Railroad Earth. Ive seen them a ton as well, and they still keep me on my toes.

New single, Breath and Burning. Fun to hear live when the lyrics say "rage with page at the dying of the light"

they had a nice little treatment after playing it at the Mann this tour. Has some potential

I liked them in the mid 90s, lost contact of the whole thing. I was never a true hippie but a metaler hanging out with musical type people smoking doobies in college. I feel like you need to smke weed and spend a lot of free time on something like that, almost like a hobby. You can't just listen to it for 5 minutes like a normal song then move on.

I'm too like middle aged anxiety-ish to chill with stuff like that anymore. Maybe I should try it again.

Maybe I need to ask some local kid for weed like that Kevin Sapcey movie.

Right on. I can listen to (and see live) phish sober. That's a personal thing, though. It's just what I dig.

I'm a big panic fan, dozens of shows over 25 years. Much as I hate to say it, not sure panic is where it's at these days. Jimmy's great, but he ain't Mikey. The new drummer, the trucks kid, is alright, but miss Todd. JB and big schools are hanging in there but shit, they're getting old.
