Hello to all the photoshop/GIMP experts out there.

I took a few pics earlier this week. They came out cute but they lack detail a bit. (my camera hates it when the sunlight is low)

Is there any way to make them more crisp, add more detail to the subject? I often try with GIMP but always make it worse. I'm terrible at Photoshop/GIMP.

If anyone wants to help, simply send me a PM and I will send you the original pics via e-mail. (these have been reduced)

Thank you in advance for the help.

It's especially these 2 pics (and the groundhog standing in the grass) that I want to improve.

The problem with digitally "sharpening" something is the same as turning up the sharpness on your TV. All you are essentially doing is adding information in the form of "outlines" around objects. I used a couple fancy filters to bring out some more detail in the groundhog but left the surrounds grass/field untouched. How does that look?

Here's one with a bit more "artistic license". This increased the contrast between the colors.

I'm far from expert, and I'm not sure what you mean by adding detail/crisp. I pumped up the contrast and saturation on these to see if that's what you mean...I didn't warm the color, though I'm tempted to....I get a little overboard sometimes...:0

When I say add detail, I mean to make sure the main subject comes out a little bit more. Does that make sense?

I want them to print worthy. :dancin:

I sent you a PM before I saw the others helping you. Disregard if they have done what you want.

Not true at all. I figure from PhotoShop, for example, I've barely tapped into 5% of what can be done with it, and I'm very ham-handed at that.... but if nobody else is around, I'll try to help somebody out because it gives me some practice/familiarity...

BTW, I was asking you and several other people about a gif problem a few weeks ago, as well as reading books, Googling like a maniac..... Just as I predicted: I eventually just stumbled upon one short sentence at the very bottom of the last post on some Graphic Design Forum about 10 pages in to a Google search.....1 fucking box I needed to click....after 3 weeks of FAIL!!!....1 click....
