...yes this is what we can usually expect, the fun part is carving in that niche that allows amazon to deliver within an hour with a drone. so, love them or hate them we will be putting up with these things. i got to thinking about this a while back and imagine what its going to be like to raise a child and the kid sees the things he wants like toys and whatever coming down out of the sky. thats the hookup i wanted as a kid. that and a superman suit.

What kind of new law? It's covered under the first amendment. People (cops included) can be filmed in public.

Meh... not likely. It would be too difficult to define.

I remember back in the late 80's, people started surveying police parking lots and discovering that anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of all the cars had expired tags or equipment violations (dark tinted windows), and they would spread the info about cops and their blatant disregard for the laws they enforce. Almost every department made their lots secure "for safety reasons" after that.

Yeah, some cops will go after you if you record them on the street, no more Rodney King embarrassment for those guys.

I can't imagine this staying legal for long. First, the drones will become cheaper so imagine hundreds of them flying around everywhere. Second, they will become more sophisticated. Imagine a drone being able to identify a person (or car) and automatically follow that person or car around the entire day.

The key for government to implent heavy restrictions or bans on drones is that I think the public will be with the police on this one.

The police will make them illegal for civilian use but surly keep them for themselves. That's the way it always works. That it also what bird shot it for.

In my state, the police cars are exempt from inspections. My dept. does them anyway, so as not to be perceived as hypocrits. Our cars come off the road and auctioned at 75,000 miles though, so the only thing really wrong with them is that their are tons of chinese soy sauce packets and ketchup packets in the glove box.

No, I'm not talking about the cruisers, I'm talking about the officers personal cars.
