Platoon! Happy New Year Benny
Happy New year mate.
Change your AV.
i lost my old av @Nunz
Platoon.... the acting is kinda not good in full metal jacket..
Both of them have nothing on Apocalypes Now.
Missing in Action 2
The first hour of FMJ beats just about anything in any genre but I like Platoon better as a full movie.
Dark horse in the war movie dept that never gets much press - Brian DePalma’s Casulties of War
Great behind the scene story from DePalma in his documentary on how Sean Penn relentlessly fucked with MJF during the filming to stay in character as a class A prick
this is THE ultimate VN saga
I met some CO's that are like him in the first gulf war...
it wasnt VN but the napalm sure was real when I was near it
I was a young WO like Matt Damon is portraying in this flick,
and I have to say they did a good job making this shit look real because I was there...
theres no comparison to VN becos its like apples and oranges...
My dad said the training in full metal jacket was exactly like his boot camp in Paris Island before going to Vietnam. He said the rest of full metal jacket was unrealistic the scenes in the jungle in platoon were much more realistic it figures one movie was filmed in England the other in the Phillipines
I love it when people try to say Hurt Locker was realistic. Entertaining movie but it was horseshit
Apocalypse Now was filmed entirely in the P.I. where the terrain is almost identical to south VN.
I saw that movie when I was 14-15 with my dad and he said that shit was shot right. He's a retired full-bird, army colonel.
I’ve seen Apocalypse Now once. I think it was the director’s cut. 5 fucking hours long. It got a little tedious
I was assigned to several ops (most of my missions are declassified now by pentagon) the first half of my missions were in the countryside.
the city insurgence was when my BP started to go up.
I still get migranes from scenes I see with towel heads running around in the streets, civilians etc......thats the worst.
And I am just disheartened when I see kids.................oh lord.
just watch the original
Good clip, damn.
cant comment too much since I never worked or was ever near 'demo' guys.
its an older movie and I sort of remember most of their technical shit was ok. Again, I dont know how units like his worked. And that was Gulf2 and more insurgence action going on that time. Same with American Sniper, I met with SEALs and only trained with their corpsmen. But was told that movies logistics was spot on tho.
