so next time a cop should wait to get shot before he fires back ? If a cop tell you to drop a something even if its a toy you do so. It's not the cops fault that the kids parents are morons and didn't teach their kid to listen to an officer. Yeah it sucks another kid was hit, but it happens. It's the U.S everyone and anyone is on edge when it comes to guns.
How he looked to the cops:
How he'll be pertrayed by the media:
Pretty sure the reality falls somewhere in between
The Los Angeles Police Department said Wednesday that an officer shot and injured a 15-year-old in the back after spotting him in an alley next to someone who appeared to be aiming a handgun.
The weapon turned out to be a replica firearm, said police department spokesman Cmdr. Andrew Smith. The boy was transported to a local hospital and released after treatment.
Don't aim guns, even toy guns, at cops and you won't get shot. Works like a charm.
It always sucks when it goes down this way. Without knowing the specifics before the investigation takes place it is hard say what the cops could/should have done in a situation like this. They think someone has a gun. How long do they go potentially risking their own lives and the lives of others by not dealing with it.
No easy answer here on a macro level.
