If I recall correctly, it was just about a year ago that Pope Francis warned against using pets as substitutes for children. Well, after dealing with the repercussions of that stinging rebuke, Beefus' life work has now been utterly reduced to nothing by Il Papa - this time in only three devastating sentences.

I wouldn't imagine Francis' criticisms here are aimed at your typical couple with kids who have a beloved dog or cat in the family. But where the Baroness Barrenness of Beef is concerned, that ringing noise you hear is the sound of a hammer hitting a nail on the head. :D

In all seriousness, where does the Pope come off with a dumb statement like that?! Another religion with blood on its hands and history and this guy is preaching about having a goddamned dog. Fuck HIM too.

Did the pope suggest all his priest friends stop fucking little boys? Because that would also be helpful.

As a matter of fact, Francis has been somewhat outspoken about acknowledging that the seminaries aren't immune to attracting pedophiles - even if their presence within the priesthood is somewhat less than what is encountered in the population at large.

In a country like the U.S., however, his acknowledgement - while refreshing, and a nice change of pace from the attitude displayed by certain other high church officials in the past - doesn't mean a whole lot, insofar as the rank and file members have taken proactive steps to largely cut off the supply of unsupervised young children to all members of the priesthood.

And how much human suffering has there been over the church's anti-birth control stance, since apparently all humans are so fan-fucking-tastic?

People without families OR pets telling everyone else how they should conduct their personal lives.

I'm a Catholic, and I must say, I don't listen to the Pope nearly as much as you non-Catholics appear to.

It's just funny, that's all. He says something, I consider and act accordingly, you seem to think his word is law not only to us but everyone!

You'd be better off arguing his points and reasoning than pointing out his (lack of) sex life.

Remember in the late 70s/early 80s, the gay community was advised not to engage in reckless, unprotected and polyamorous sex, and they effectively gave the experts the finger, because, you know, what do straight people know?

Then AIDS spread like a spark in a distillery, and they wondered, "How'd this happen?"

So the Pope is responsible for all that blood?

Is Obama responsible for the Trail of Tears, or Mariano Rajoy liable for the Spanish Conquistadors and their rampages through Mexico and South America?

    Just curious.

I'm just saying that Pope Francis probably shouldn't be left around children, Robin...
