I wish mine were cooler, but it's an undeniable fact that this song changed the course of my life.

It seems like yesterday, my friend Danny brought this LP to my house and proceeded to take 'Agents of Fortune' off of the record player and played 'Never mind the bullocks', but it wasn't till this song came on that I was mesmerized.

And then Punk Rock took over my life.

This song was the "coolest" 45 my parents owned and it was the first song I remember liking when I was a very young kid...

This one is embarrassing....I can think of 3 or 4 musical epiphanies in my life, but this one may have had the most dramatic effect of really altering my world. Understand, I was raised a lil' cracka in a small, white-bread, southern town, and the only music I'd really been exposed to was FM radio MOR schmaltze and country music. Then on a boy scout campout, some of the older, thuggier scouts were playing this 8-track tape called "Double Live Gonzo"......it frightened me. And then I had to have a guitar, and I began a descent down the slippery slope of evil, bad old rock and roll. I think now that Ted Nugent is a complete asshole, but he was a force to be reckoned with in the days of arena rock.

When I was breaking away from my hooligan friends....married....a kid.....getting off the blow

I listened to this every day for months while I got sober...the studio version is better....it needs the heavy bass

edit: Sorry folks, I forgot I was in this thread instead of the "Musical Interlude" thread ( :wino: )....Although it's a tiny bit appropriate, since it was a great revelation to me when I started learning about Johnny Cash's Sun Records era...

Best first non op post ever.
So bad ass and evil at the same time.
I remember this song while driving around in SoCal before I was five years old, (we moved up here to redneckville when I was 5) seems like yesterday.

The song was new at the time btw. :(

Neil is genius. I have a friend who is a guitar player, he mostly plays Jazz now, (see pompous) but he always loved Neil, now he says he's a hack player and shitty singer.

Even some musicians don't appreciate the amount of soul and heart some other musicians have.

I'm a shitty guitar player, and even worse at singing, but I've always thought Neil can say more with one long note than a Van Halen, for example, can say in 8000 per second.....I always compare music to food: I can appreciate and enjoy a good filet mignon and lobster from time to time, but most of the time I'm happy as a hawg to gobble down some homemade biscuits and gravy.... Technical perfection bores me.

FWIW, Neil was almost my choice for this thread. My 3 biggies have been hearing the Beatles Revolver (Yellow Submarine) when I was about 2yo, followed by the Ted Nugent corruption, and then seeing Live Rust for the first time, never having heard of NY at that time...He's been my #1 ever since....

When I heard this song it turned me on to blues.

I was 5 or so. It put me on the path of bad-ass music, so to speak. I didn't really care about pop music anymore once I heard that this sort of stuff is out there. My uncle would lend me his CD's and I would listen to classic rock and blues channels on AM. After years of listening to blues I started to get into classic rock like Zeppelin and Deep Purple etc. After that I listened a lot to 80's hair metal which lead me to Guns 'n Roses, which was my favorite band for many years.

When I went to the USA as an exchange student last year I discovered a lot of new awesome music thanks for SiriusXM.

Radio is fucking lame over here.
