says the AP ceo/president....governments that try to force citizens to decide between free press and national security create a false choice that weakens democracy and journalists must fight increasing government overreach that has had a chilling effect on efforts to hold government accountable.:dontknow:

I would not listen to what anyone in the Associate Press says. They are the most liberally slanted news operation out there and makes MSNBC look like Tea Partiers.

a free and independent press differentiates democracy from dictatorship, seperates a free society from tyranny....

The AP is anything but 'free and independent'.

I probably am. I am not smart. In reading it again he sounds like he is arguing against a larger, more intrusive government that will stifle or control the press. If that's the case that is ironic coming from the CEO of AP.

All press is supposed to have an adversarial relationship with the government. They have "freedom of speech" to protect us from our gov't. The liberal media in this country is doing the exact opposite nowadays unless there's a republican in the White House.

We're living under a soft tyranny because the AP and other liberal news sources are involved in journalism malpractice.

the actions by the dept of justice could not have been more tailor made to comfort authoritarian regimes who want to suppress the news media

When Edward R. Murrow took down McCarthy pretty much single-handedly just by being a journalist in the early days of TV, the American intelligence community realized they had better get control of television and pronto if they were gonna have any type of control.

the seizure of phone records & emails has intimidated both official & nonofficial sources from speaking to the AP and numerous other news organizations....

i hate to agree with him, but the past 6 years it seems as though the AP has an ulterior agenda that does not involve fair and impartial news reporting.
