The boys and I have been playing racquetball every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday for the last 25 years or so. Tonight was no different. Untill......I get there we have small talk while we wait for our turn on the court.... Met a new guy named Wes. Wes had not been playing for a while because he was recovering from QUADRUPLE bypass surgery......Wes' turn to play. Good competitive game. Game is over. Players shake hands and walk off the court. I look over and Wes collapses in front of us on the court...I call 911 as a couple people start cpr. After emt and fire department get there they take over. It took a good 10 minutes to get his heart going. Fucking weird. I felt guilty continuing to play. We did, but it was on another court.....my partner played horribly.said he couldn't shake what he just saw......is 10 minutes too long to have no oxygen to the brain? Have you ever watched someone pass away?

Your first mistake was playing racquetball.

Wait, is racquetball the game with the scoop hand things, or the game where your competition is a wall?

Yikes. Dude probably should't have been playing after that surgery. His fault, not yours.

Yes. I think. I was walking out of a grocery store and there was a minivan parked near the entrance of the store, when i walked around the front of it and to the passenger side, I saw that the backdoor was slid open and a very big man was on the ground face up next to the van. His arms were extended at the shoulders, like a cross, his eyes were closed, face purple. People were already assisting him with CPR, sirens in the distance. I didn't know him so I don't know if he died, but....it didn't look like he was going to make it.

A very close friend of mine had a heart attack and had no oxygen to the brain for about 6-7 minutes four years ago. He recovered physically, but about 90% of all his memories are gone. He basically had to relearn to talk, read, dress himself, and forgot more than 50 years of his life. The guy we basically knew is gone. It's really horrible, because he was a good, solid guy who had a great sense of humor and was a terrific music fan. Now, he's basically an empty shell.
