    Anyone there?

Vote Rick Van Glahn over the incumbent Rodney Frelinghuysen. Rodney has like 70X the money, but Rick is a million times better.:)

No, but heard Rick Van Glahn on the Wilkow show yesterday. The other guy is the establishment guy and been there too long.

Good luck. Sheriff's make a big difference.

No they dont. In Jersey they transport prisoners and do security at county courthouses.

Thanks. I can't believe how much corruption there is in local politics. My cousin's pension will fluctuate by $20k a year depending on who gets elected sheriff.

What's he do? I aint tryin to shit on Sheriffs, but transport prisoners and run the metal detector at the county courthouse are all I ever seen em do, aside from occasional security at events. Winery down the road used to get 2 county Sheriffs for security when they had a big event.

He started in the jail. Worst job ever. He said he had an inmate shit on the floor and then throw it at him. He then moved into courts, like you described. Then he moved up to detective. Now as chief he does less work than ever. Basically attends functions to politic and lobby for whatever the flavor of the month is. But we are tight so I support him!

Some Sheriffs must be better than others. Sheriff Joe of Maricopa County (AZ.) is always out there sticking up for law and order. Another good one is Sheriff Dave Clarke of Milwaukee.

Yeah, in most states, counties and county sheriffs are a big deal. Here in NJ? Not so much. But I've heard Sierchio is a decent dude.

County jail would make sense. All the prison guards I know worked in state prisons.

I've never seen a county detective. Maybe cause I live so close to a state police barracks and FBI building.

I don't know how it works in NJ, but in Texas Sheriffs patrol areas and respond to calls outside city limits. This is a big deal here because there are 254 counties, with a whole lot of area in between cities. They serve as bailiffs and run county jails as well, but they are really a workhorse of a law enforcement unit.

Similar to here except there is no space between cities, sheriff's dept also contracts with some smaller cities within the county for police services
