We are long way from Seinfeld and All in the Family as far as quality. What a crappy line up of shows other than a very few on the fringe.

Yep 4th place for a 4th rate Gong Show. Wow even though I'm positive the executives over at NBC have Stockholm's Syndrome when it comes to Wiggy they have to be fuming that AGT can't even beat repeats of NCIS, 60mins and Big Bang Theory. I DVR American Ninja Warrior and I make sure to end the taping 5mins early so there is no chance I overlap it with AGT so it doesnt somehow give AGT credit for DVR numbers.

Network TV is just garbage now. Maybe all of the good writers went to cable.

i don't really care about the ratings anymore. The show has a third less viewers than it did before Howard. People weren't going to leave because of Howard every year forever. The Stern Effect or lack of Stern Effect has already happened. Anyone who left because of Howard left two seasons ago.

Apparently, they are still getting great ad money, which is the bottomline for a summer replacement show and what kept the Late Night shows on the air despite much lower audience.
This is according to Variety this year (May):

“AGT” grew its overall audience in 2013 from 2012, according to Nielsen, even if its viewers between 18 and 49 – the audience most valued by advertisers – have slipped. Ad dollars allocated to the show are on the rise, according to Kantar, a tracker of ad spending. In 2010, “AGT” won about $141.4 million, Kantar said. In 2013,it notched nearly $209 million, representing an increase of nearly 48%. Last season, three of the nation’s biggest telecommunications companies – Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T – were among the show’s biggest sponsors, putting a veritable blitz of gadget ads against the series.

To some extent that's right, those who were anti-Stern have already vowed not to watch, if they were watching before Stern.
Well I think you could watch the show and not continue to watch it because he is cringeworthy

The show is so ADD that they surmount a lot of that, it really is like a youtube format of 90 second "acts" or "clips" like Tosh.o without the funny or subtle wit

The NBC press release can spin this by proclaiming that AGT was the #1 rated show of the week, excluding programs which had their season premiere during the week

They brought in Heidi and mel to try and stop the bleeding, but nothing can stop the stern effect.

I assume the advertisers have some metric which demonstrates that the mouth breathers who watch the shit talent show are easy marks and therefore a valued audience.

Give it up, sweetie. The show is garbage and Stern has added nothing to the ratings. What ratings remain are due to shut ins, kids, and people who forgot to turn off the tv before leaving for the summer. What part of their target demo of children and over 50 types is interested in a "comedy" writer getting fingered by a tabloid internet guy?

Isn't there a kitchen you should be in now instead of carrying Howard's H2O? ;)

    fun fact....

During Howards rant about Jay Leno the wigged one quoted Tonight Show ratings from 17 (?) years ago. Apparently Sterns lesbian hijacking propelled Jay to the top of late night and not Hugh Grant.

The best he can do discussing the AGT ratings is occasionally say he heard from a guy that knows a guy that said lots of people are watching AGT.....right Robin.

AGT Ratings: alot of people watching
Source: some guy at the network that may or may not have told that to wiggy, allegedly.
Projected Future Ratings: Slow build-up of former viewers until no one is left watching

It's always fun to keep in mind that Howard's original scheme was to join American Idol in 2010. This explains why he blew a gasket when Ellen mentioned not wanting to work with him. Back in the day Howard wore as a badge of honor how he offended and scared vanilla/safe tv personalities like Ellen, this time he was hurt and angry.

Upon joining idol Stern planed to explode the ratings (If Jon Hein guessed 16 million as a safe/easy to reach bench mark Stern certainly thought he would hit close to 20 million viewers). He would then use his network success to pit the networks vs sirius in a huge bidding war that would spill over all the entertainment pages. Everyone would read what a success Howard was on television and all the millions he could command for his services.

By this point he probably figured he'd be some kind of partner in running one of the networks while hosting some kind of primetime interview shows on sunday nights while Beth would be the host of the morning shows.

Instead he is the loser of the summer working along side a model and a spice girl whose fame peaked in the 90s, a comedian who hit it big in the 80s, and Mariah Carey's boy toy. All for of which are far more entertaning on the show while he is declared loser of the summer
