that's some fucking bullshit right there.

looking at comparable pads on different sides of the ID an WA border is bad enough, but the in the county I'm looking in Idaho there are HUGE disparities for homes that cost the exact same. WTF?

is that common? i thought it was all by tax assessed value?

fuck this state, i wanna go back to WA (4 minutes away).

Meh. States are going to make you pay. Some make you pay more here, where the next will make you pay more there. All comes out the same in the wash.

do you have a "save our homes" law there?

in florida, if you homestead, property taxes can't increase by more than 3% per year

so second home and vacation homes are not capped they rise with the market

you can have some old geezer who has lived here for 40 years paying much less than some freezehead from Ontario. which is OK by me :D

also, depending on the county, there can be different assessments for roads, schools, etc that will cause variations in property taxes

coincidentally, it was my choice that was $600 a month in pure thievery.

now I see why it's somewhat affordably priced.

In New Hampshire (live free or die my ass) some towns will base your tax assessment on subjective things. For instance, if they think you have a nicer view than your neighbor does, you get charged more.

We were looking at another place with twice the property and half the taxes. Go figure.

i think i'll end up back in WA over property taxes.

I probably shouldn't bitch because property values are still decent here.

I know people in NJ whose property tax is something absurd, like $18,000/year! Granted, they have a lot of property, but a lot of people have left NJ because they could no longer afford the property taxes for the homes which they own outright (no mortgage left).
