If you'd like to take a look at the ISS as it flies overhead that link to nasa will let you register to receive email alerts for when you can do just that. You can also get a months worth of sightings as well. It's kinda cool to watch it as it crosses the sky at dusk or dawn.

One thing I loved being in the Navy at sea.....The sky at night in the middle of the ocean is breathtaking...You can see satillites criss crossing the sky and shooting stars from dusk till dawn....

There are apps for your phone that will tell you when, how long it will be visible, and point you where to look using the phone's compass. They are accurite down to the second. You can even set reminder alerts like a week out.

I remember back in the mid 90's sometime, they announced that the shuttle was about to fly directly over the L.A. basin on the radio. Because of all the glare from city lights everywhere, it was recommended to view it from a dark area if you can find one. This was around 6pm. and the sun was already down, I got off the freeway and found a dark street near by and waited. Sure enough, after a few minutes, a star moved steadily from west to east across the sky. That was the only time in all the years the shuttles flew that I saw one in orbit.

The app that I have on my iPhone is GoISSWatch. I had two different ones when I had a droid , but I forget what they were called. Just search ISS in the app stores and they will come up. They were all free for the basics and there were up-charges if you wanted more features.

I often watch it go over. I get the schedule from heavensabove.com. As it gets large in size it's been getting brighter.

    Concur. :)

There is no darkness like the darkness you experience on an overcast, moonless night in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
