I have lurked around here for awhile, and from I have gathered most people here believe NBC gave howie an original contract of one year with an option (his option) for a second year. This is the only reason I can see that he would be back and why a fourth judge was added. On the other hand that is an incredibly stupid move on NBCs part and shows they were very desperate when they signed him. So the question is, is the second year option the general consensus as to why he is still there in light of falling ratings?

I would think so. Plus they moved the show to New York so that first contract was probably pretty hefty in terms of money and options. By the way, welcome! :)
