I am moving my work office and I received an email from the landlord stating that I will be responsible for carpet cleaning from a professional carpet cleaner before I vacate. My lease is down in Los Angeles so I can't review it right away but I don't remember anything like that being on my lease. My question is... Is this a common practice? This is such a pain in the ass, being the end of the year and still needing time to move my belongs out.

:jj: That just might work. And then you can go get my car serviced where they won't jack up the price because I'm a girl. :D

it all depends on the building and owner, but yes, it is not an uncommon practice to require that you have your carpets professionally cleaned.

I can call about your car too. I'll be all "Whatever you charge is fine, I trust you" in my most manly voice.

I'm sure it states it on the lease, I just don't remember it. I've just been lucky before I guess.

That'd be hilarious if a serviceman starts talking to me and I say "Hush" and hand him my iPhone. :D

    :hat:

She'll just take it out of my deposit if I don't do it and probably jack up the price or something. I wouldn't even care except it's the end of the year and there is already so many things to get done.

The devil is in the details. If it is stated in the lease, you agreed to the terms. not much you can do. If it is not, you can tell her to shove it but it can get messy from there if she is holding a security deposit.
