I am sending my laptop in for warranty repair. Before sending it in, it seemed like a good idea to remove all of my saved data, considering it lists all of my credit card, bank accounts, had tons of personal information, etc. I made two backup copies on two different hard drives and then erased everything. I then went into CCleaner and wiped the empty space, first with the one pass method then with the three pass method. The problem is that I can still pull up recoverable files using ParetoLogic Data Recovery. I don't really need it to be wiped so hard that the KGB can't recover it. I just want to make it more trouble than its worth for some HP tech to pull it up. Anybody have any idea what I might be doing wrong in CCleaner? Or, is there a better wipe program? Or, any suggestions? The repair is to my screen but I don't want to remove the hard drive, since it is a warranty repair and that might void the warranty.
