I'm replacing the 2x8 trim around my garage doors. Stupid fuckers used non-treated lumber and guess what happens after about 10 years?

I pulled a 2X8 off a few minutes ago and down low, where the bottom plate attaches to concrete, a swarm of little tiny bugs came out of a crevice in the concrete. Neither the plate or the framing shows any damage. They are smaller than a pin head. They aren't winged, I didn't see any signs of eggs or pupae but they'd be microscopic if they are there.

I'm thinking it's not termites or I'd have wood damage. I sprayed really heavily into the crevice with raid. Any idea what they may be? Can I do anything to prevent them from coming back other than calking the hell out of the area they got in?

Pour gas all over the area and light it.

I was gonna do that but I sweat like a pig and I'd probably just put out the fire with my stinky perspiration.

PS, you know what else pisses me off? Wood filler. That shit goes bad so quickly. Every time I go to use it, I have to make another trip into Lowes to get some because mine is all fucked up. That shit must be made of fresh milk.

If you replace the wood and it's not holding moisture they won't really come back

Thanks!! The rotten trim has allowed some moisture in. It will be dry after today.

I could be wrong since I can't actually see why you have going on but any time you have a high moisture area and you see tiny mites drying it out will solve it.

So if you sprayed you proly killed them all any ways

 I should take my rotten wood filler and plug the damn concrete. It's not good for anything else.
