i'm in the market for a decent day hike backpack. any recommendations based on products you've owned/used/consider to be good?

went to cabela's today and almost went nuts in the bargain cave. love that place.

I have a 25 year old Kelty daypack that's been pretty bulletproof.

I got a G.I. frame pack from the Army/Navy store a long time ago and it's pretty stout and light.

just checked it out on zappos and it looks legit. is it comfortable with some significant weight in it? the padded straps look nice but potentially a little tough if the pack is loaded. like the simplicity of it. :)

    i know, buddy! :)

no, just a basic, decent quality day pack that's waterproof and comfortable with some supplies loaded in it for the day. i'm going to be wearing it doing some decent elevation climbs so some additional chest/waist straps would be desirable.

the redwing 50 is one i am looking at:
    http://www.cabelas.com/product/Kelt...Ntt=backpack&WTz_l=Header;Search-All Products

the other, which is a lighter pack, is the kelty shrike:

the redwing 50 looks like it would be a good one to get because it could be used for longer trips than just day hikes.
