I replaced my entire driveway 2 - 3 years ago. It's the faded gray now....but still in excellent condition.

    I've never had it sealed.

All of my neighbors have fancy blacktops, 'cause they seal theirs yearly.

Mine doesn't look bad, but it kinda stands out. Plus, with kickstands, scooters, oil leaks etc....it's showing on the dull gray.

I was planning on sealing it myself, with a bucket of some shit and basically painting it......which I estimated would cost me about $80 and some sweat.

I was just quoted $160 for "liquid asphalt protective coatings" - he blithered on about the difference between sealing it, and their crap "reinforcing" and saturating into the asphalt....I don't really know, I kinda zoned out.

WTF was he talking about, is this a good price, and should I trust an East Indian fellow who knocks on my door and with a little pressure automatically knocks the price down $40?

this is one of the biggest home repair scams in the business; it's a pretty straight-forward do it yourself project :hat:

Yup. Either do it yourself or have a company with a goo rep do it. This was a massive problem down here a few years ago.

So....his whole thing about how they have a special product that "infiltrates and reinforces the asphalt, instead of just coating the top" is a big pile of puckey?
