I'm getting a new laptop. The toughest thing it will do is process photographs in Photoshop. I don't play any games that require super graphics. In general, here is what I"m thinking: 15.6" 16 Gig memory I7 processor (I've not narrowed down a processor model, I think it will be hard to find my choice if I do) Either a 1 TB hard drive or dual drives with one SSD or a hybrid drive. I'm open to suggestion. I have a hybrid drive in my current laptop (I replaced the original) and it boots up significantly faster, IMO. 4 gig memory card Built in DVD player/burner. I'm on the fence about Blu Ray. It would definitely not be a deal killer if Blu Ray was not included but I need a DVD player. With the travelling I do, I don't want to have to tote a separate drive with me. HD monitor. I don't think 4K would do anything for me on a 15.6" monitor I would like an AC network card. Not seeing a lot of them so it's probably not a deal killer I'm going to spend in the neighborhood of $1000. I could go over that but not by too much. I keep my laptops forever so I need to get a pretty decent one so it won't be obsolete in a couple of years. OK - Finally to the question. Should I get a touch screen? I know that it will be very handy if I get one. The problem is that getting a touch screen will force Win 8 on me and I hate it so much. I could probably get used to using it but I don't want to. What do you think? Also, any suggestions on brand and model? The Win8 question has delayed me buying it already. I just can't pull the trigger on Win8 so I turn the the well known computer forum, Dawgs.
