I've done this before, and currently my wife is suffering through this while I'm at work. I may not tell her until tomorrow. fuck it. I may not tell her EVER.

****Do this in someone else's computer and they will go insane.****

    1. All you have to do is take a screenshot of your ENTIRE desktop with NO programs or windows open.

---------If you don't know how, just hit "Print Screen", which will copy the image to the clipboard.

---------Now open MS Paint or any other imaging software you prefer, and click "Edit", then "Paste".

I FORGOT! You need to crop off the Menu Bar at the bottom of the screen, or it will show 2 of them.

---------Some programs make you start a new, blank image before you can paste, but it's fairly straight forward.

    2. Once you have your image, save it somewhere. Doesn't matter where, just so long as you can find it easily.

    3. Now make this new image your desktop background.

    4. After doing so, depending on your operating software, customize your desktop and HIDE the icons, or uncheck the "Show Icons" option.

The person using this computer will now see their normal desktop, or so they believe, but the will NOT be able to click ANY icons, because unbeknownst to them, they are really just part of the desktop wallpaper.

My wife is so stubborn she has not asked me for help yet, but when I spoke to her on the phone a few minutes ago I could hear her clicking the mouse like a Parkinson's patient and getting angrier by the second.:D

If I didn't explain it too good, just let me know. Enjoy the torture.

No because it's set as desktop background , It will be there until someone figure's it out and change's the desktop background back to whatever.

No. I use Rocket dock with Windows 7, and I have all my icons hidden. The setting stays, even after resetting. It's a preference. They will be able to click on the "start menu", but the won't understand why they can't click on the icons.

SHIT! That reminds me! You need to crop off the Menu Bar at the bottom of the screen, or it will show 2 of them.

Another fun one is to put Knoppix on a cd and stick in the optical drive. Thumbdrive in the back works well too. :jj:

I get my wife every year with the simple "Rubberband around the kitchen sink hose trigger" bit.

i did it a few years ago to all the computers in the office, except i used BSOD. I thought it was going to be crazy in the morning, but the staff was so computer illiterate, they just went about their day.
