I think it is after every menstrul cycle so you can get "clean " again or when you re getting converted. I'm not sure if there are more occasions that require the Mikveh.

I think it's for women to cleanse after menstruation.
My friend converted. When she got out of the Miveh dripping wet and naked, the little jewish lady attendants started asking her if she wanted to buy raffle tickets for a trip to Israel. She said " I don't have my wallet with me now"
