So people actually like this stuff ? Its got well over 100 million views. To me it sounds like typical modern, over produced, shitty, glossy pop. The only thing i found interesting about her when I looked her up is that shes having success over 30 (shes 34) in an industry (pop music) thats very youth oriented.

Yes. Teenage and 20 something girls like that type of music. Why the surprise?

It also helps they are on major labels which allows them to go right on youtube's front page. I wonder if a new hard rock/metal band would be able to get a million views if they had major label backing and got put on youtube's front page

Kids don't even seriously listen to hard rock anymore, other than a occasional "classic" they might run into on a playlist.

Yeah its the "outcast/outsider" music. I did seen a teen wearing a Slipknot shirt at the mall but hes probably a dork.

^Thats how metal is supposed to make you feel because its so loud and powerful. It gets into your soul and makes you feel strong. How the fuck does soft pop do that ?

I guess 14 year old girls have amazing purchasing power (or influence over their parent's credit cards). This is the same kind of anthem as Katy Perry's "Roar" which has to be one of the most cliche-ridden, psuedo-emotional pieces of pop crap ever produced, yet it sold in the multi-millions. I would hope the artists themselves aren't that cynical, but made the music labels are?

I'm a grumpy, old shit........I miss the 70's when pop hits included such diverse topics as cannabalism, crossing racial lines for love and getting kicked out of the house for it or your own impending death.

I hear this song every 15 minutes in some stupid commercial, not sure which one. It's not my usual go-to at all, but I kinda liked it the first 17 billion times, now it's beyond annoying. Also assumed it was Kelly Clarkson.
