Not an Artie hate thread, I love and miss the guy, but he lied about a bunch of shit..

One of my favorite Artie moments was when he blasted the hell out of Andrew Dice Clay for waiting to pay him for a comedy show, claiming it was on the way, and Artie didnt need the money right away anyway. Artie went of on Dice telling him he ALWAYS pays the comics he works with that same night.

In the negative equity segment with Sal, Artie says that he feels bad for Sal's money issues and that he would've paid Sal sooner for a comedy show they did together sooner, but he didnt think Sal would really need the money that bad...

Artie makes the claim about 2:40 into the this negative equity segment..

    I'd take Artie's story's over Howard's anyday!

Howard = "The weirdest thing happened to me the other day Robin, this guy stopped me and took his prosthetic leg off and i signed it in front of everyone on the side of the road!"
Artie = "We were in a helicopter the other day, and the helicopter couldn't take off properly cause of my weight and the pilot looked at me weird"

I think that's being more of a hypocrite than a liar, although who isn't?

He lied about saying he always pays the people he works with that exact night. That was the premise of the whole Dice argument.

Artie vs Dice happened in 2006 and Sal's negative equity was 2008. So technically Artie wasn't lying in 2006 because him not paying Sal hadn't happened yet.

Joe Matarese actually discussed this on that Fixing Joe podcast Artie did after getting out of the psych ward (and talking about how generous Artie was, for what it's worth). But, he said Artie was so high that he would tell anyone who asked that they could open for him (and then not remember when they called him to make sure of arrangements for the gig when it came up), and some of the shows ended up having 5 opening acts, with the crowd getting pissed because it took so long for Artie to hit the stage.

Maybe we can get ahold of a flux-capacitor and somehow mess with the space-time continuum in order to change the events of the past and make it so Artie really did lie... and your thread could be saved!

Scariest moment I've ever had in an E R. I pushing a gurney to x-ray with a patient on it. As I'm pushing I look down and inbetween my legs and the gurney was a 3rd leg, toes pointing down. I jumped a foot backwards as I instantly thought someone was laying under the stretcher, (The 1st episode of Most Wanted was filmed at this E R for a prison break from walpole) How I managed to stifle the scream I had welling up in my throat I have no idea. As I stare back at the shoe now I realize it was a prosthetic leg, guy was a fucking amputee and they never told me that in the E R when I picked the guy up.

After the nurses stopped laughing at me and my reaction, they did apologize :jj:

Was Sal actually successful as a stockbroker? I could see him spending $6 for every $5 he earned no matter the salary. However, could his salary really have been all that good where he would feel confident to leave it for the low pay of the Stern show while having a young family?

Artie also lied about his betting scam with his bookie on NHL games. Artie claimed he was betting NHL weekday matinee games at night, once the games had already happened. Only problem. Other than New Years Day and day after Thanksgiving, NHL NEVER plays weekday afternoon games.
